The West African Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM), as part of their active communication strategy targeted at overseas investors, approached A-Z Media Communications in 2016 to help them connect with U.S. Frontier and Emerging Market institutional investors.

We brought together 30 accredited investors, including representatives of Mutima Capital, Nile Capital, Citi, and Exotix, to take part in a roundtable lunch with the BRVM. The event featured short presentations, technical dialogues, and open engagement between all participants.

We combined this investor-only meeting with a comprehensivemedia outreach effort that generated greater awareness on the eight French-speaking markets that form part of the West African Economic and Monetary Union. A press conference and a series of one-on-one interviews resulted in media coverage in top business and financial publications including Bloomberg, Wall Street Journal, Reuters, Yahoo Finance, Africa Global Funds, and Global Capital

Introducing and educating US-based investors about French-speaking, lesser-known markets is key to attract American “hard to reach” capital and facilitate greater investment in the region. Our work helps to build bridges and to separate facts from fiction when it comes to investing in frontier markets.
